Community Masterpiece Guidelines
Thank you for your participation in our
7th Annual Community Masterpiece!
The Community Masterpiece is an annual event which brings together artists from Burlington City and surrounding areas, with a common goal. To recreate a prominent artwork one piece at a time, in the most magnificent combination of colors, textures and creativity possible. The selected masterpiece is divided and cut into squares. Each participating artist will be assigned a square at random. The image on the square is then transferred onto the supplied panel, and recreated to scale in the medium of choice.
Guidelines
Community Masterpiece packets will be available for pick-up on Wednesday January 21st, and will include your square as well as a proportionate plywood panel and instructions. The completed panels will be due by
Sunday March 1 5th, 2026.
There will be no exceptions, squares not returned by deadline will be reassigned without refund. One square per artist please, $15.00 participation/donation fee per square. All artists 16 + years of age eligible.
The identity of the artwork will remain a mystery until it’s unveiling on
April 4th 2026.
If you recognize the artwork from your assigned piece, please do not reveal it! Participating artists will receive an invitation to the Opening reception for the Masterpiece and accompanying exhibit.
Please transfer your image as closely as possible to the original.
You will be scaling up (enlarging) your image by double. The grid method is a very reliable tool for accuracy. There are a variety of instructional videos available with an internet search which demonstrate the grid method for transfer.
While all medium are accepted, please be conscious of the colors and values represented on your square and try to match your colors as closely as possible, the success of the project relies on accuracy.
Make it fun!
